One of my best strengths is my versatility. I have over 900 hours of training, so I can customize your sessions and incorporate several types of massage to fit you.
What type of massage is best for you depends on what you want to accomplish during your session. Here are the descriptions of the different modalities I offer according to the effects you would like to achieve.
- A peaceful session using long strokes to help you relax and increase circulation. Pressure is typically light to medium. - Swedish massage
- Pressure is firm to deep but the focus is still on relaxation and circulation. Incorporates more focus on certain problem areas and is a little more heavy duty than a swedish massage. The superficial layers are always warmed up before going in deep to prevent bruising and soreness. This massage is commonly, although often erroneously, refered to as "deep tissue" - Deep or Hard Swedish massage (commonly known as "Deep Tissue")
- The focus is on problem areas such as injuries, scar tissue, painful areas due to poor postural habits or areas of repetative stress. This session typically does not cover the entire body, but works with specific muscle groups affected by disfunction. Strokes are short and focused and used with minimal lubrication. Pressure tends to be medium to deep but never deeper than the body can handle. Sessions sometimes include having the client actively engage a muscle in order to help release it. - Structural bodywork
- A Swedish or Deep Swedish session given with heated stones. Clients get the added benefit of the heat which often takes them to a deeper state of relaxation. Excellent for days when it's very cold or clients who often feel cold.
* Please note that due to the difficulty of bringing the equipment to a client's home, this session is available as an incall session only. The minimum time requirement for this session is 70 minutes. * - Heated Stone massage
- This session is for the client who wants to improve his or her flexibility. A session uses stretches, palm pressures rather than strokes and no lubrication. Energetic lines are stimulated. Traditionally, it is done on a mat on the floor with the client fully clothed but the stretching can easily be incorporated into Swedish or other types of table sessions. - Thai massage
- This session is for clients who are engaged in sports, or other activities. I will customize the session to include stretches or work with problem areas that flare up during sports games or activites. Different techniques are used depending if you are recieving a pre-event, post-event, maintinence, or restorative massage, where you are in the training cycle and what issues are present. The main focus is on muscle groups that are primarily used in the sport. This allows the athlete to train at a higher level of intensity, more consistantly with less chance of injury. It also helps enhance and maintain athletic performance and speed recovery from events. -Sports massage
- This is for the client who wants to participate in creating his or her own wellness. This can be a full hour session by itself or 15 - 45 minutes added onto a massage. Many clients have not learned how to stretch properly. I will assess which stretches are most effective for your problem areas and teach you how to take care of yourself on your own. I can also help you to learn to maintain proper ergonomics while working. Clients can develop better posture effortlessly by gaining body awareness and not relying on straining muscles to hold themselves upright. - Stretching and Posture therapies
- This is a session that works with disfunction and injury in the body. Stretches and other techniques are held anywhere for a minimum of 90 seconds to 5 minutes without moving. This allows adhesions (knots) to melt properly and the fascial network of the body to release holding patterns. Trigger point therapy is also grouped under this type of session. Trigger points (which are commonly known as knots) are often hypersensitive and refer pain to other areas of the body. - Myofascial work
- Similar to a Swedish session, with alterations made to accomodate the client. Special needs includes pregnancy, elderly clients, clients with mobility issues, wheelchairs etc. The #1 focus is on client comfort. Alternative positioning, bolstering, gentler or more specific techniques may be used. - Pregnancy/ Special needs massage
- This session increases the flow of lymphatic fluid which is very useful for recovering from injuries or swelling. Because more than 80% of all lymph nodes just under the surface of the skin, light touch and slow movements are used to move the lymph. - Basic Lymphatic massage
- This is an add on to a massage that focuses on points in the hands, feet and ears. Reflexology tends to be use a medium pressure to stimulate the reflexive areas and organs rather than deeper pressure to work on the muscles of the hands and feet. Great for general wellness or specifically to work with body systems and organs. - Reflexology
- While many people consider "aromatherapy", as a frivolous add on to a massage, "a nice smell", or something that doesn't really do anything, I consider it it's own healing modality. This can be an independent session or a footbath before a massage. Oils are chosen for their healing effects, not how pretty they smell. Essential oils are excellent for a variety of physical and emotional issues. - Essential oil session
- This session uses light touch on-the-body holds to manipulate the energetic systems or chi of the body. The session is done in a grounded fashion with the energy drawn up from the earth. This is not reiki and does not ascribe to any religous beliefs or entities. Clients often report tingling, heat or sometimes just a feeling of deep calm. The client may like to take advantage of the peace to meditate. - Energy Healing
Sessions last from a minimum of 60 minutes to 120 minutes.
